California Optical Coherence Tomography Doctor
At Retina Associates of Orange County, we often perform Optical Coherence Tomography scans, which are the current advancement for imaging technology. This diagnostic technique is similar to an ultrasound, which employs light instead of sound waves, yielding a higher resolution image of the eye structures. If you are looking for a clinic to have this type of scan done, our California optical coherence tomography doctor is glad to assist you. For more information or to schedule an examination, contact us at your next convenience to reserve an appointment.
Optical Coherence Tomography Doctor California
An optical coherence tomography utilizes a scanning laser to assess the retina layers and optic nerve for signs of eye diseases. It works using light without exposure to radiation, and can be an essential step for early diagnosis of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinal disease. Through this scan, we are provided with cross-sectional and color-coded pictures of the retina. We use these images for the identification and treatment of eye conditions, like wet or dry age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, glaucoma, and more. If you would like to schedule this scan, reach out to our California optical coherence tomography doctor now for more details.
Optical coherence tomography is a painless and non-invasive imaging test used by doctors to capture clear, 4D images of the optic nerve and retina. The purpose is to use this scan to monitor, diagnose, and treat retinal conditions, along with watch changes in optic nerve fibers. Potential findings we may identify in the scan include signs of macular degeneration (assesses damage to central retina), glaucoma (measures nerve fiber layer thickness), diabetic retinopathy (detects abnormal blood vessels), or macular edema (examines fluid accumulation). If you have questions about this type of scan or are in need of a physical exam, contact our optical coherence tomography doctor today!

I would like to share my experience with Dr. Desmond Edward McGuire, a Retina Specialist, who has been treating my mom for macular degeneration in both eyes for the past 8–10 years. We have consistently found him to be an excellent doctor, very knowledgeable, caring, and attentive to her needs. We also want to recognize how nice and helpful the staff is. On most visits, we hardly ever have to wait and the appointment is typically completed within about 30 minutes. Overall, the experience has been very smooth and reassuring for our family. We truly appreciate Dr. McGuire and the entire team for their support and professionalism over the years.Posted on Google![]()
